Expressing disappointment at MSK's family and by extension the Malay community seems to be a red herring to me. This is not an 'ummah' issue. Family will always be family. The spotlight should instead be on the failure of our system and how we can go about improving it. How did MSK's visit to his brother's residence go unchecked and undetected?
